Who is the most outstanding architect of Vilnius – Glaubitz, Guciewicz or Wiwulski?
Rising high above Vilnius is the Three Crosses monument (1916) by Vilnius architect Antoni Wiwulski (Antanas Vivulskis, 1877–1919), famous for his monument to the Žalgiris battle (also known as Grunwald or the Tanenberg battle) in Cracow. Some of the more important Old Town buildings, like Vilnius Cathedral and Vilnius Town Hall, are creations of the famous Classicism architect Wawrzyniec Gucewicz (Laurynas Gucevičius, 1753–1798). Still, Johan Cristoph Glaubitz (c. 1700–1767), the creator of exceptional Baroque school and European style Vilnius landscape is considered to be the most outstanding architect of Vilnius.
